I found out it was my cpu fan that was overheating so i bought a new one zalman cnps7000a-cu. i have a t41p with heatsink 13N5347. The machine is 3 years old. It doesn't matter what I do at startup - within 10 seconds it will shut down. As soon as you take the heatsink assembly out from the system, you will see the thermal compound spread on the CPU and the heatsink bottom face.

I think if you use a short heat sink instead of a long heat sink (which covers the video chip too), you might overheat and damage the video chip.
