Everything needed to be moved into place to make things easier. I’d like to leave it on the source server just in case something goes wrong and my users can still access the site on the original server. Finally, I had to uninstall Web Deployment tool, install *ALL* of the options under "Management" in WPI (including SEO and Database Manager), and then, after that, re-install Web Deployment Tool. My web site is ok and I have access from my client.

Maybe it’s user error. I checked my instance on the Azure Mgmt Console that the endpoint 8172 is available and that my Site/Application name is exactly the same as the name of my role. So I went check mine and to my surprise I had a small mistake in the Site/application name field shown in Figure 1.
