Both computers are networked via a router. Have you tried a different port on the switch(if wired) have you tried wired? (if wireless) are you in a docking station?

During several transfers, the transfer would pause, and a Network error message would pop up. Temporarily uninstall all security software on the Vista computer. Performing a constant ping as suggested, if the file actually transfers, I see my ping jump from <1ms to 17-21ms consistently. The delays/pauses/network-disconnects seem to be due to the system drive (D: partition) being too full, and for whatever reason Drive Extender is not handling it well when it needs to use
