The issue raised it's head when we noticed that no distribution points where updating. This was really giving me a headache, because I couldn't really understand why it wouldn't work. I just rebuilt the primary site a couple weeks ago due to hardware failure, which is what generated this whole mess in the first place. This is most likely why the MP won't install. At this point I started to see a pattern for my problem. Every time I initiated a new session to the share by either browsing or restarting the SMS_Executive service, it worked but then stopped There I found out that theSMS_SiteToSiteConnection_
Since you can successfully connect to "\\MYSECONDSERVER.mysecond.site.local\SMS_SITE" and new packages can go out to DP, I believe that there is nothing wrong with the DP now. But when I look back at central site structure (in admin console), secondary site still doesn't show up, and it's been about a week.
