once it was done, i rebooted & sure enough the error was back. The system reported that it was not installed so I issued the "sudo apt-get install gnome-config" command to install. Even after a reboot. I continued with the installation, logged out of Xubuntu and tried to login to Gnome.

so if you come accross this problem, one sure fix is to get rid of the kde stuff & manually put back what you need.. try to search one of that apps)imho the problem is that missed file.. commenting out IPv6 lines in host file (no effect) 3.
