To David Alison,I just dumped the com.apple.timemachine prefs in ~/Library/Preferences/ and then Restart. Time Machine may sit in "preparing" mode for a while. I was also told that if this fix failed that my case would be referred to engineering.I checked the web and found that others are having similar problems getting Time Machine the time machine error message appeared while I was creating this posting.

It's been more than a week or two that I started having problems with my iMac and my time machine and time capsule. That usually clears it. Enter your password when prompted (it will not show when typed), and the command should now successfully run. http://linuxprofilm.com/time-capsule/time-capsule-error-112.html Transferring this data (a one off event) would cost 1 USD!

I did not explore further, but 'find' complained because the folder was removed before 'find' could go all the way into it. Time machine couldn't perform the backups, error code -50. Is Certificate validation done completely local? I shut down the drive, and I just finally have had time to dig into it. The samsung 1tb was bought from owc but they are not interested in 'supervising' the warranty return - just sent links to seagate. If all works out when my computer is fix (hardware problem) I will see if my new drive with work to restore my data.
The stock currently trades at over $400 per share. I deleted the "in progress" file and ran backup now. This update also disabled the "ecomode" settings within the "lacie desktop manager" software. I was able to complete a new backup after deleting that file.
