I'm on 10.6.8. I tried 3 times with Carbon Copy Cloner but it failed everytime. Apple is supposed to be smarter than that. There are a ton of Apple forum posters who are getting these errors and it's driving us crazy!

Is that the issue? You can try hardware reset. But if you don't have any slashes in volume names, it doesn't apply anyway.I tried to indicate that when I posted: I have redacted the directory where it failed with '.....' If that doesn't help you can try fs_usage from the Terminal.
