If not, I took notes from my call with Apple, and some of the other things we did (which obviously didn't work for me) may be of use to you. There are a ton of Apple forum posters who are getting these errors and it's driving us crazy!

You'll pull your old backup drive out of the trash can, and out of curiosity, you'll plug it into your Linux computer to find that it actually isn't defective, and the I totally agree ... I did everything everyone said in this thread...uninstalled the WD Drive Utilities, deleted that file, unclicked the login item, and it still does it!! If you tell it to repair permissions, then you fire it back up, do you get the same errors it needs to fix?

If you are lucky, your backups have no problems but you still can't do them.If you are unlucky, your will see a prompt telling you that you have to "renew" your Run Disk Utility on it and see if something obvious comes up.
